Here Comes Peter Cottontail: The Movie

Seymour S. Sassafras is one of the characters in the Rankin/Bass Easter special Here Comes Peter Cottontail who serves as the narrator. He is modeled after his voice actor Danny Kaye.

Seymour is April Valley's local inventor and supplier of colors for Easter egg paint created from his colorful vegetables in his garden of plenty. He shows the story to the viewers through his magical viewing egg. Peter stumbled upon Seymour after shamelessly leaving April Valley with his basket of Easter eggs and Seymour allowed him to use his Time Machine called the Yestermorrowbile to help him finish his task. When Peter was about to give up after regretting everything that happened, Seymour gives him one more encouragement through the song "In The Puzzle of Life". After Peter officially became Chief Easter Bunny after he successfully delivered his eggs on St. Patrick's Day, Seymour was shown joining in the celebration of the victory.

Of the characters from the special, Seymour was one of the few who returned in the 2005 Classic Media produced CGI animated direct to video sequel Here Comes Peter Cottontail: The Movie serving as the narrator once again and was redesigned to almost resemble Willy Wonka from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Because Danny Kaye died in 1987, Christopher Lloyd was brought in to voice the character.
